The Daily: Studio Life

by Cat on November 30, 2010

A day in the life of my studio is never the same and thought I’d share some customer service 101 from the boutique.  I wanted a studio open to the city and have always trained my team that no matter what, when a customer or client walks through that door looking for help, you put down your project (even if the deadline is imminent) and help them.  On this particular day a customer was deciding between 3 dresses and wanted my assistant to flag down someone on the street to be a third opinion.  She requested it be a male opinion too.  We still have this debate at the studio…  I (the mom) think that poor guy looks a little overwhelmed and standoff’ish.  The single gals think he’s got a crush on her and posturing.  Maybe I’m wrong, but what do you think about his body language?

There is something so humbly grand about Thanksgiving with the abundance of food and thankful notions.  Why not capture it in writing?  I’ve been looking for a holiday gratitude journal…something simple, sturdy but pretty enough to bring out over the holidays to record a year’s worth of thanks without it losing permanence from my short term memory.  Above are some of the finds so far…

On behalf of all of us at Mom Inc Daily, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving with your little ones and family!  We’ll be taking a little break that day but will be back with more creative and biz goodies to share!

The Daily: Tiny Prints Holiday Cards

by Cat on November 23, 2010

It’s Christmas in July when you license or design.  Luckily my team likes listening to holiday songs ‘year round because we had “Let it Snow” blasting as early as April.  These are some of the holiday designs that our studio created for Tiny Prints.  Licensing is a precise balance of trying to gauge the data and audience of the company you are working with at the same time presenting the essence of your own brand.  For this holiday season we had a lot of fun with illustrated trees, poms and sheers.  To see more of our designs click here.  I’ll be bringing more licensing experiences from the other Designing Moms here as well, so feel free to drop us an email if you have any questions that you’d like us to chime in on!

Last Minute Thanksgiving Table Decor

by Cat on November 22, 2010

Thanksgiving already?  Well it’s not too late to come up with some fun Thanksgiving decor if you’re still rushing around (like me!).  I’ve come to find three easy essentials that always transform a table from bare to “dressed”: 1. a banner or garland 2. fun placeholders 3. favors (I would just LOVE to give away those turkey rattles!).  I found some great etsy goods for both a Big Kids Table and Little Kids Table below…

above clockwise: oak tree napkin rings and leaf placeholder, give thanks banner, metallic brushed acorns, cherry wood gift tags

above clockwise: harvest pennant banner, yarn pom pom placeholders, turkey leg baby rattles, turkey keychain, thanksgiving turkey tags
