I thought I would start a little series of posts on creating your own workspace from your home. How many of you have one or are thinking about carving something out for yourself?
For so many of us moms who design, a work space is more than just a desk to push papers and numbers…it’s our creative sanctuary and a place to call our own. I would love to hear from some of you out there who have unique solutions, spaces or ideas on how you work! I happened to start off in a spare room for two years, hunched over piles of paper stock..but I LOVED that space, even if it was so small that when an order came in, I had to tower the boxes over me like an igloo! I have a workspace at my studio now which is where I primarily get the “biz” stuff done and will be sure to share with ya’ll.
Today I wanted to show some pics of Aerin Lauder (a “designing mom” and grand daughter of the great Estee Lauder) and her office spaces. I have always drooled over her work spaces which have a feminine, chic but modern vibe. I love that she’ll have a touch of her grandmother somewhere just to give her comfort and inspiration. I’ll post up tips in the next post, but for now…if any of you have been toying with the idea of creating a space to work or start your dream biz, the first thing you must do is commit and put it on your calendar. *Hint: do it for Spring cleaning! Start flipping dreaming up your space, looking through magazines, jotting down notes… I’ll hopefully get some of the Designing Moms to join me on this project and share with you more tips along the way!
