So here’s one of the best press kits I’ve ever received… I have to admit it took me for a loop at first because it came in a leather trunk completely unmarked…no brochure, no press letter… There was only a wax sealed letter from an “Elizabeth Bennett” with talk of zombies and voo doo. I think at this point I was three steps from calling the bomb squad, for real. Then I looked closely at the contents within: a copy of the New York Times bestselling book, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” candle, balms, oils and solvents all meant to ward off zombies. There was a hankie with a needle in it, wrapped gauze and even little strips of zombie dressing. Each item had rubbed tags with melted wax over the edges. The next day I received an email from the PR Agency on behalf of Quirk Books inquiring if I had opened the package and telling me of the online site that would capture the Pride and Prejudice characters in a social media realm.
I thought this campaign and book were so brilliant! So much so that I asked the branding agency 160 Over 90 some questions about how this all came about… Stay tuned tomorrow because Creative Director Brendan Quinn will go behind the scenes for our Biz-How To to take a look into the making of this. Wait ’til you see…this was no small feat!
