My new intern Annie walked into the studio the other day wearing a bright outfit and carrying the new Design*Sponge At Home book in hand. She had set the alarm to east coast time so that she could be one of the lucky ones to sign up for the craft event at Anthropologie as part of Gracy Bonney’s book tour. Of course I had to let her attend. We were down one at the studio so unfortunately this meant that I would have to miss the event. But Annie promised to capture details of the craft and book signing below and thought to share it with ya’ll…
from Annie: I’ve been a long time reader of Design*Sponge for several years now and was so excited that Grace was coming to Anthropologie San Francisco to host a crafting event and sign her newly released book, Design*Sponge At Home. As I walked through the store, it was beautifully decorated in honor of the event. There were stacks of the books everywhere, tissue paper pom poms and bunting were hanging from the ceiling. The crafting event was a lot of fun, we created wax seals using a dowel and wood burning the surface of the design. Creating your own wax seal is a featured DIY project in Design*Sponge at Home. I really like that the wax seal can be personalized and completely unique.
Grace was really fun to talk to & she walked around helping everyone during the crafting activity.
The ladies at my table were very friendly and helpful. We all had a fun time making our wax seals and helping each other out, when using woodburning tools, matches and dripping hot wax!
The most unexpected surprise was the cookie wall! All the cookies looked like paint swatches to form a fun photo backdrop!
