Happy, happy 2011 everyone! I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday with your family and loved ones. I’m so excited today as I thought I’d start the new year off with an introduction to our newest Designing Mom. Please help me welcome interior decorator Kirsten Grove of the chic and design drool-worthy blog Simply Grove. She’s going to be our resident “interior design” expert as her sense of style, aesthetic and decor is spot on beautiful (take a look!). To add to that, her life as a mom and her passion to educate her community on adoption is just downright inspiring. So without further adieu, please read on about Designing Mom Kirsten!
My name is Kirsten Grove and I am a design enthusiast. I have been an active interior decorator for 7 years. After my two children came into the world, I decided to take less design jobs and focus more on just blogging design. After a couple years of just blogging and doing side jobs for residential and commercial here and there, I got the itch to do something more hands on. So this last April I joined forces with designer Elise Vaughn, who owns a boutique, Brass Razoo, here in Idaho. Brass Razoo has been known for its amazing selection of one of a kind and vintage clothing and jewelry. We wanted to take the shop one step further so we introduced a line of custom as well as vintage furniture and home accessories. You can find me most days in my garage creating and building.
One of my greatest passions is adoption. Both my children are adopted. I, along with a handful of friends, started an adoption and foster care non profit that educates the community on the subject. We also help provide resources to those who are interested. Along with being a passion, it is my greatest accomplishment. My children are my greatest joys in life. I can’t imagine doing life without them.
Another accomplishment has been my blog, Simply Grove. When I started it 3 years ago, I had no idea what it would lead to. The people I have met and the opportunities I have received have been amazing. I am so thankful for this road God has led me on.
My kids understand that our lives are busy but extremely fun and adventurous. I am so blessed to have many family members and friends who love my kids and help any moment they can!
It can be difficult raising children and working full time. There are days when all I want to do is stay at home with my kids and lounge around. They need days like that. I can tell when I have pushed them to far and its time to take a step back.
Our morning routine usually starts with cereal and showers. After that, who knows! Everyday is different. Some days are home, some days are shopping for new inventory, some days are spent at the shop and who know what else. It is a variety of activities!!
