Make: Jackie’s 365
What is it about a beautiful photograph at the end of a long week? Especially one taken from a mother? Might be that we know she has a certain kind of perspective…little details, an eyelash or a footprint to mark a day filled with remarkable energy. Designing Mom Jackie has started a project where she’ll be sharing her photographs with us and this is her intro of it …
It’s been a while since I’ve contributed to this blog and it feels great to be back.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jackie and I am a freelance writer living in Berkeley with my hubby, two little boys (Graham + Simon) and our newly adopted chickens (Sidney + Bea). Unlike many of the mothers featured here, I do not make my living as a designer. Maybe some day that will change, but for now, I just moonlight as a crafter and follow blogs like this one pretty religously. I have a little etsy shop, go play, that I stock with vintage-inspired ornaments during the holiday season. The rest of the year I dabble in craft projects that incorporate my favorite ingredients: wood, maps, paint swatches, graph paper, chalk, graph paper, rubber stamps, and felt.
As my first post of the year, I thought I’d share with you my two goals for 2011. The first is not terribly interesting so I won’t bore you with the details but will give you a little hint: budget. The second, which I will now ramble on about for a bit, is to join Project 365. if you’re not familiar with this project, it’s an online forum for sharing photographs taken daily for an entire year. I’ve always loved this concept, but have been bad about actually getting started. I finally ran out of excuses and officially committed myself to the daily ritual on January 2. I will share here with you my favorite photographs on a monthly basis, beginning today with my picks from my first batch of images. Though only about a week in, I have to say that I am really appreciating the opportunity to make a little space in every day to be creative.
Here are my favs so far:
